For most learners the Green Cert pays for itself many times over in the first transfer or grant application. Here’s what it touches — and how to check what applies to you.

THE BIG FOUR

What the Green Cert is referenced for

Stamp duty exemption — under 35

Qualified farmers under 35 can be exempt from stamp duty on farm transfers — often the single biggest euro saving in a succession. The age limit makes this the deadline that drives most enrolments.

TAMS at up to 60% — under 40

The young-farmer rate of capital grant aid (vs the standard rate), available within five years of qualifying and before 40. The clock starts at qualification — so when you certify matters, not just whether.

Enhanced stock relief & consanguinity relief

Tax reliefs in family transfers and for young trained farmers, where the qualified-farmer test is met.

Young Farmer Scheme & National Reserve

The recognised agricultural qualification referenced for young-farmer top-ups and reserve entitlement applications.
